Indira Awaas Yojana
The objective of “Indira Awaas Yojana” is to provide shelter to the homeless Rural Poor Families belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes, Freed Bonded Laborers, Physically & Mentally Challenged Individuals and other non SC/ST families by providing, financial assistance of Rs. 38,500/- for the construction of new house per beneficiary and Rs. 15,000/- for up gradation of unserviceable ‘Kutcha’ house per beneficiary under IAY.
20% of allocated fund under IAY can be utilized for up gradation of houses.
- In Sikkim, 24 pieces of GCI sheets are provided with a financial assistance after deducting from the cost of 24 pieces of GCI sheets under New Construction (Rs. 38,500).
- The funding pattern has now been changed to 90:10 (Centre and State Govt.) from the financial year 2008-09.
- The above assistance are provided to those beneficiaries whose names are found in the BPL list of 2005 Socio Economic Survey conducted by DESME, Government Of Sikkim.
- During 2008 – 09 Rs.160.82 lacs was received as additional fund to cover 918 houses.
